University of Miami

August 2022-August 2024

MPS degree in Marine Conservation at the University of Miami.

My time here was extremely eye-opening, and I have been fortunate enough to gain some field experience working with marine parasites and reef fish within the Caribbean and elasmobranchs within the GoM, as well as an abundance of knowledge from some of the other courses I've taken through the program. I also gained valuable social science research skills relating to marine mammal conservation through my masters project, which is discussed in more detail in the EXPERIENCE tab

I have also volunteered some of my time to events for some of the clubs on campus such as Sustainability by the Sea, Surfrider foundation, and Letters to a Pre-scientist.

August 2018-August 2022

In August of 2022, I graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Marine Science and a concentration in Marine Biology.

During my time at the University of Maine, I gained a lot of valuable skills. I was apart of honors college, and I achieved Dean's List during the Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Fall 2021 semesters.

During the Spring 2021 semester, I developed a thesis for my capstone project involving research on respiratory behavior of humpback and fin whales, and conducted the research during the summer of 2021. After I turned in my capstone project, I had the opportunity to continue the project during the summer of 2022.

I originally had plans to study abroad in Australia during the Spring 2021 semester, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to do so. Broadening my perspective to the world and learning about different cultures has always been an integral aspect of what I wanted part of my education to include. I had the amazing opportunity to spend my final semester in South Africa, which I go into more detail about in the EXPERIENCE section.
